Description
The Kadammanitta Devi Temple in the quaint hamlet of Kadammanitta becomes a vibrant spectacle annually, with roaring beats, lively hues, and a jubilant crowd chanting and dancing in celebration. This is the backdrop for the world's most majestic display of the ritual art form known as Patayani – the Kadammanitta Patayani. The festivities kick off with the ceremonial lighting of fire and the rhythmic beats of the thappu, the traditional Patayani percussion instrument. Dedicated to appeasing Goddess Bhadrakaali, this festival is a grand celebration held from the first day of the Malayalam month, Medam, culminating on the 10th day, known as Pathamudayam.
